10 New Uses For Coffee

I love coffee. I mean, I REALLY love my coffee. We always have it in the house. One thing I like to do is find uses for products I already have to save money. It turns out coffee is good for more than just a morning pick me up.


Household Cleaning

Reuse your used coffee grounds. Coffee is mildly acidic, and abrasive making a great cleaner for pans, counter tops, sinks and more. I shined up my kitchen sink, and was shocked at the results!
Remove Furniture Scratches

Use wet coffee grounds to coffee scratches on dark wooden furniture. Just make a paste, and gently rub the affected area.

Coffee grounds absorb odours. Leave some unused grounds in a bowl in your fridge, or in a bowl on the counter to remove every day unpleasant smells.

Hand Cleaner

Coffee grounds are a great way to remove grime and odours form your hands too. Just take a handful of coffee grounds and scrub your hands clean under some running water. It eliminates even the toughest smells like onion and garlic
Drain Cleaner

Running used coffee grounds down your drain can help keep them running smooth and prevent odours from creeping up. Be careful with this one. Do not use more than 1 teaspoon per treatment, and follow with hot or boiling water. Too much coffee grounds or with out the hot water can actually clog your drain.
Plant Food

Plants love used coffee grounds. Add it to compost, and the soil of indoor plants. It is a great plant food, and in your garden will even keep some pests away.
Vase Fillers

Stale or dirty coffee beans are still a thing of beauty Use them as vase fillers, or in cups or jars full of pens and pencils. Not only do they look nice, they continue to smell good for quite a while too.

Use coffee grounds in the shower as a natural scrub. It will exfoliate dead skin cells, and as an added bonus, coffee has been known to reduce cellulite. Bonus! Mix dry coffee grounds with coconut or olive oil and rub over your skin in a circular motion
Hair Rinse

Use cold coffee to rinse your  hair for a glossy sheen. It will also darken your hair slightly. This is a great way to use up that last cup in the pot no one drank! Apply to dry hair and let it sit for 20 minutes for best results.
Flea Repellant

Rub used, damp coffee grounds through your pet’s fur after bathing to repel fleas. No more chemicals!
