Every day there are 300,000 incidents of drunk driving in the United Sates. Each and every day. That is a scary number. We all have heard the statistics, we all know the risks, yet people don’t get it. Driving while under the influence is not a good idea. It kills, and hurts everyone.
The statistics are mind blowing:
- Drunk Driving costs the United States 132 billion dollars every year
Think about it. Hospital bills, auto repairs, infrastructure, and even life insurance. The more it happens, the more we all pay for the costs.
50% to 75% of convicted drunk drivers continue to drive on a suspended license
About 1/3 of all drivers arrested or convicted of drunk driving are repeat offenders
23.4% of drunk drivers are between the age of 21 and 25 years old
That means that over 75% of drunk drivers are not in the “Partying” stage in their lives. Parents, teachers, professionals. It’s not just college students.
1 in 3 people will be involved in a drunk driving crash in their lifetime
How many people do you know that have been in a collision where alcohol was involved? If you think about it, the numbers add up. This also means that one of children will be affected by a drunk driving crash. If that is not enough to make people think, what is?
Yet this is an on going problem. Personally, I don’t drink. I do know plenty of people who do, and I see many of them drive after having a drink or two. Most are more afraid of getting caught than anything else. Even when they get pulled over, it is still ok in their minds.
