Global Developmental Delay Awearness Day

If you read my blog, you already know that my Little C is disabled. She has a diagnosis of Global Developmental Delay, which means she is delayed in 2 or more areas of her development. Little C shows signs of neurological abnormalities, but there is no other diagnosis. She is a shining little girl who brings joy to every one around her.  Her smile warms a room. She is also a lot of work.

Little C is now 3 years old. She is non verbal. She has cognitive difficulties. She is only now beginning to learn to walk. She does not have age appropriate fine motor skills. She is small for her age, and has sensory issues that affect her eating habits.

Little C is happy. She smiles and laughs all the time. Little C is precious and perfect. She is what she is and I love her.

May 1 is Global Developmental Delay Awareness Day. As a parent of a child living with GDD, this is so dear to me. To raise awareness, we are wearing yellow on Thursday. Yellow is bright, hopeful, bold, and beautiful. Just like the children affected by GDD.

Please help me in raising awareness of Global Developmental Delay. Wear something yellow on Thursday May 1. Share this post, and the your tube video. Awareness can make a difference. Awareness shows support to not only to the children living with Global Developmental Delay, but also to all the people who love them.
