How To Make Chia Jam With Any Fruit

It’s harvest time, and that means loads of fruit and veggies to use up! I am not one for canning, but I am all about different ideas to use up the buckets of fruit I have building up. One of my favourites is Chia Jam!

Chia seeds are a super food that is all the rage these days. One of the big benefits are how high in fibre chia seeds are. Just a 28-gram or one-ounce serving of chia has 11 grams of dietary fibre, that is a third of the recommended daily dose.  Not only that but they are high in omega-3, protein, and tons of other nutrients!

Chia jam is an easy way to add this super food to your diet and it works with any fruit! Some of our favourite combinations are apple plum and rhubarb strawberry.

How To Make Chia Jam With Any Fruit

  • 3 cups fruit cute to bite sized peices
  • 3 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar

  1. In a medium sauce pan bring your fruit to a boil. Add the lemon juice and sugar and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 20 minutes or until the fruit is at a desirable consistency. Add the chia seeds and mix well. Allow to cool and enjoy!

Chia jam can be used in place of any other jams. It is a thinner jam, but the taste and health benefits can not be beat! Use in oatmeal, for sandwiches, on fresh buns or anything you can think of! Chia jam will keep for 2 weeks in the refrigerator or 6 months in the freezer.
